Housing corporations: Urgent requests

The majority of the available accommodations are allocated on the basis of registration. In the event of urgent requests the registration date will be adjusted accordingly.

The urgent request regulation is only applicable in the following situations:

• Medical necessity

Students and staff with a medically-documented disability may be offered accommodation by a housing corporation.

An urgent request based on medical necessity will only be granted after contacting one of the student deans at the UM Department of Student Guidance and Advice. The student deans will then submit the request to us.

If special alterations are required, it is important to notify us on time as to the specific requirements the accommodation must meet. An offer will then be made in consultation with all parties involved.

If no special alterations are required, only the registration period will be adjusted.

• Researchers/employees at Maastricht University/AZM and Hogeschool Zuyd

Research trainees, PhD candidates and interns can make an urgent accommodation request by submitting a motivation letter and an explanatory statement from their employer/manager via email.

• Athletes

Students classified as athletes by UM Sport may qualify for faster accommodation allocation due to their athlete status. The requirements will be identified in consultation with both parties and extra registration time will be allocated as necessary.

• First-year non-EU students

All first-year non-EU students will automatically receive 2 years of extra registration time. This will speed up the qualification process for unfurnished accommodations offered by the housing corporations.

Students must upload a copy of their passport or identification card on the website (MyHousing).

Urgent request steps

1. Become a member of Maastrichthousing.com;
2. Upload the necessary documents;
3. Await assessment of conditions by Maastrichthousing;
4. Await decision announcement.

All members with urgent requests pending will receive extra registration time after approval by Maastrichthousing, thereby greatly increasing their chances of finding accommodation. With the exception of specific requests based on medical necessity, all members submitting urgent requests must personally respond to online offers. Your personal search profile will determine which offer is granted/rejected.

Site membership allows you to upload the necessary documents (on MyHousing) which will then be automatically added to your registration.

Tip: If your search profile does not produce suitable accommodation results, we recommend adjusting your search parameters.

Maastrichthousing retains the right to refuse applications/registrations if the rules and conditions are not met or abused. Maastrichthousing will not be held liable for failure to provide housing mediation during the membership period.
